RULES OF THE CONTEST
The Committee of Labour and Social Policy Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences delivers the contest announcement by 31 January each year.
Individual and team publications may be submitted.
Scientific works must meet the criteria for scientific dissertation.
Contest publications with relevant opinion may be handed to the Secretary of the Committee by:
- the Dean of Division I of the Polish Academy of Sciences,
- directors of scientific institutions,
- directors of units (directors of institutes) of universities,
- directors of science publishers,
- members of the Committee of Labour and Social Policy Studies,
- editors-in-chief of academic journals.
The contest is open to books published during the year preceding the year of contest.
Contest works shall be submitted by 31 March.
Books with relevant items shall be sent to:

The assessment criteria for scientific publications are the following:
- relevance of the arguments and their importance for the discipline development and for social and economic policy,
- correct definition of the problem and of the paper’s goal,
- correct methodology implementation,
- scope and scale of research,
- outstanding value of empirical data (theoretical and applied).
The assessment criteria for educational publications are the following:
- relevance of the arguments,
- educational value of the paper (sets of questions etc.),
- large-scale application potential.
Each proposed books is analysed by two members of the selection board or members of the Committee.
The selection board selects publications in secret voting, acting by a simple majority.
The selection board decides on the type and value of prizes and recognitions. It may also recommend to award no prize.
The contest results are given by 30 June.
The decision to award a prize is taken by the Committee in a resolution based on the opinion of the selection board.
The Committee Presidium defines the date and place of the prize award ceremony.
The competition results are published in journals: “Polityka Społeczna”, “Problemy Polityki Społecznej”, “Zarządzanie Zasobami Ludzkimi” and on the Committee’s website.
The prizes and recognitions sponsors are enumerated or presented at the moment of results presentation.
Sponsors may award special prizes if the selection board preapproves the prize award criteria.

CONTEST FOR THE BEST SCIENTIFIC OR EDUCATIONAL PUBLICATIONS
IN THE FIELD OF LABOUR, SOCIAL POLICY AND HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT
The contest aim is to select and reward polish authors of the best scientific or educational works published in the following fields:
a/ labour,
b/ social policy,
c/ human resources management.

Wacław Szubert Medal, from 1999 to 2016 awarded by the Committee and since 2016 by the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, is awarded
in acknowledgement of outstanding scientific achievement or professional accomplishment in the field of labour and social science.
The right to submit a request for the Medal award belongs to:
- unit councils of universities and research institutions,
- committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences,
- members of the Committee of Labour and Social Policy Studies.
Requests must be submitted by 31 October each year to the Committee’s address.

The Youth Section was created within the Committee in 2012.
Professor Marta Juchnowicz was the Section’s leader until 2019.
During the 2020-2023 term professor Cecylia Sadowska-Snarska from PWSIiP in Łomża will be the Section’s leader.
The aim of creating the Youth Section was to integrate the generations of scientific community.
Recent years revealed great interest in the Section’s activity. Integration of scientific community, promotion of young scientists, exchange of information and research results are valuable innovative aspect of the Committee’s work.
Young scientists present results of their research and discuss them at annual national conference organised by the Committee in cooperation with universities (Warsaw School of Economics until 2018, Warsaw University in 2019). The most interesting papers are submitted for publication in academic journals.

The Regional Social Research Section, based in the National Science Institute – Silesian Institute in Opole, was created in 1999. The mission of the Regional Social Research Section is to address problems closely related to practical aspects of social policy within regional context.
The Section’s activity focuses i.a. on demographic background of social development of Silesia (Lower Silesia, Silesian and Opole Voivodeships) in local labour markets.
During the 2020-2023 term the Section is presided by professor Agata Zagórowska (Opole) supported by professor Zdzisław Pisz (Wrocław) and professor Andrzej Rączaszek (Katowice).
The Section members deliver common research and scientific projects, co-organise scientific conferences and debates. They cooperate with labour offices, local offices of Statistics Poland and with local authorities.
